  • A hospital near Sacramento is looking for experienced MedSurg/Tele RN for a travel contract on the Surgical Acute unit.
  • - Unit: 6T Surgical Acute
  • - # beds: 30
  • - EMR: Cerner
  • - Charge Nurse: Yes, generally does not take patients, but will do break relief.
  • - Nurse Aides: Yes as census and staffing dictates
  • - Floating: All other Sacramento facilities. Mid-shift float to another facility is rare, but can happen.
  • - Floor specific orientation: 1 - 2 days on the floor with preceptor.
  • - Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Bariatric surgery, post vascular, total joints, general ortho.
    • Job Requirements
    • The right candidate will have 2 years of experience
    • - Ratios: 1:4-5. If patients on tele then 1:4.
    • - Tele: Yes, must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.
      • Schedule Information
      • - Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
      • - Holidays: Rotate in with core staff
      • - Shifts: 12 hr shifts. Shift starts 645. Report is at the bedside. OT and extra shifts are available. Self-scheduling is used, but is not finalized until Manager balances it. Schedules are out 4 weeks. Travelers can access their schedules from home and make themselves "available" for extra shifts and make trades with other staff. Block scheduling is generally not available.

        • - Scrub Color: Navy - under shirts must be navy, white, or black. Scrub jackets are optional, must be navy.
        • - Vents: No
        • - Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Yes, Hospitalist or Intensivist
        • - IV Team: No
        • - RT 24/7: Yes
        • - Pharmacy 24/7: Yes
          • Additional Details
          • Med Sol prescreens, offer off clinical prescreens, manager has 24 hours to rescind the offer, if necessary
          • - Holiday RTO: Travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years).
          • Modules are required to be done before start of assignment. Modules take on average 3-4 hours to complete-this time is not billable to the hospital.
          • - Additional Notes: Have lifts in a few rooms.;12hr Days, EOW, First to Float
