Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Room Job Specialty: ER RN Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights, every other weekend, first to float Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience License: License to submit required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS Must-Have: Completion of all required modules prior to arrival, Cerner experience, and 3 years of experience. No first-time travelers. Job Description: - Work in a busy ER with approximately 270-320 visits per day (up to 350 on busy days). - Non-trauma center with 62 beds plus hallway beds/chairs. - Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4. - Utilize Cerner for electronic medical records; reading and interpreting telemetry required. - Collaborate with charge nurses available on both shifts who typically do not take patients. - Work alongside ER techs responsible for EKGs and vital signs. - Participate in a weekend rotation of every other weekend and be available for two out of three major holidays. - Wear navy blue scrubs. - Manage vented patients while awaiting placement; respiratory therapists manage vent settings. - Interact with physicians and mid-level providers, with mid-levels generally managing fast track cases. - Will work in a facility that includes pharmacy services and respiratory therapy available 24/7. - Engage in floor-specific orientation for a maximum of two shifts. - Provide care across all age groups and conditions, from minor to critical care, including STEMI and stroke patients. - Work in an environment that serves as a STEMI receiving and primary stroke center, featuring a robust Sepsis program. - Handle high volumes of critical acuity patients and a significant number of ICU admissions from the ER. - Collaborate with a diverse workforce, including a large number of paramedic and nursing students, as well as student nurse externs. - Cancellation policy allows for hospital-initiated cancellations up to three times per contract, which may include full shifts or partial shifts.
