Senior Refrigeration Mechanic

Salary or Pay Range: $42.42/hr. - $50.69/hr. (Budgeted salary range $42.42/hr. - $45.92/hr.)



Provide journey-level refrigeration experience that include analysis of control, electrical, plumbing, and refrigerant cycle malfunctions to provide dependability and optimal performance of the campus refrigeration systems. Provide complete field records of refrigerant use as per EPA requirements. Perform comprehensive preventative maintenance of machinery and equipment. Work requires continuing education to maintain and expand the skills necessary to service the new technologies that will be utilized in the future.



Minimum Qualifications

For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license, certification and/or educational degree if required of the position.

--- Environmental Protection Agency Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification Type I, II, III, or Universal

--- Must possess a certificate of completion from a recognized five year union apprenticeship program, University apprenticeship program, accredited trade school or have the equivalent amount of experience and training comparable to a journey level craftsperson in refrigeration. Non-certified applicants will have their training and experience evaluated by a Credentials Committee of the Facilities Services Senior Leaders to determine journey level status.

--- Must possess an Environmental Protection Agency Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification Type I, II, III, or Universal.

--- Journey level knowledge and experience in the refrigeration trade and related practices.

--- Experience as refrigeration pipe fitter and knowledge of correct refrigeration piping practices.

--- Skill to fabricate, maintain, service, repair, replace, install and/or alter HVAC, refrigeration and other campus systems related to craft functions.

--- Skill to inspect and perform preventive maintenance program on HVAC, refrigeration and other campus systems.

--- Knowledge of practices and procedures of the Ventilation trade and related practices.



Preferred Qualifications

--- Knowledge and skills to use test equipment including but not limited to voltmeter, ampmeter, ohmmeter, gas-trac, thermal-anemometer air velocity meter, I.R.D. balance tester, thermometer, hygrothermograh, P.H. meter, salinity test equipment, sound level meter, T.D.S. meter, chlorine test kits, "B" and "C" mix tester.

--- Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

--- Provide clearly written and understandable reports and instructions.

--- Analytical skill to understand and interpret technical data and mechanical and structural specifications and blueprints.

--- Customer service skills.

--- Computer skills to operate a personal computer.

--- Organizational skills.

--- Current knowledge of building codes regarding the installation of air conditioning and refrigeration systems.

--- Current knowledge of approved safety devices and practices.
